Where do the Products Come From?

Platypus Collective has partnered with artisans and designers from all around the world. Some items are handmade by the artist locally in their country; others are locally designed and then commissioned to make/build through another country or factory.

This means that your order may be shipped from anywhere around the globe, such as USA, Canada, UK, Colombia, Spain, France, Italy, China, India, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet, Germany, etc. Most items ship direct from the designers, although some may ship direct from one of our warehouses in Canada or the United States.

It also means that when you order multiple items, they may come from different designers, possibly from different locations/countries. Since some items come from different locations, they are shipped separately and will (likely) arrive at different times. This is why, in some cases, your entire order won't arrive at the same time. 

We carefully select artisans and designers to work with so they are trusted both with ethical, quality products and accurate shipping. Each supplier provides you with tracking numbers once your item is shipped and as additional peace of mind for you, all our products are backed by our rock-solid, 100% Satisfaction Promise.

If you do not receive your order within the given time frame (each is different depending on the product and where it comes from, which will be stated on the product page), we will determine what the problem is and we promise to either reship, refund, or greatly discount your order. No hassles!

When Will My Order be Shipped?

Order processing times can take anywhere from 1-3 business days before shipment (depending on the designer, how busy they are, and the time of year).

Typical delivery times are about 1-2 business days (after the order has been processed). However, some deliveries may take up to 1 to 2 weeks for arrival. Again, this also depends on the designer, the shipping carriers, time of year, as well as the destination country.

We do our best to provide you with accurate tracking information, however, if you are still unsure about the status of your item(s), please contact us with your name and order number.


I Purchased an Item for a Gift. Will it Arrive in Time?

While we strive for the fastest shipments possible, we cannot guarantee delivery by a certain date. Many items are handmade and all are limited quantity. As mentioned previously, shipping times depend greatly upon many variables including item, supplier workload, supplier location, destination location and time of year. We highly encourage ordering early - especially during busy seasons (ex - Christmas).

If the item is meant as a gift, but may not arrive in time, we are happy to provide you with a beautifully designed card with details of the item. This way, you can give the card to the intended receiver so they know what to expect.

Alternatively, we can offer you a gift card instead, thus allowing the intended gift-ee to choose their own unique gift to perfectly complement their #uncommonstyle.

Do You Ship Internationally?

YES!! Our goal is to bring products from all over the world... to the world. So, yes, we ship just about everywhere in, well, the WORLD!!

Unless you live somewhere obscurely remote, Papua New Guinea perhaps, or the Galápagos, then we can probably ship to you. IF, during processing your order, we discover that we cannot ship to your location, we will contact you to either make other shipping arrangements, or simply refund your order.

So please please please make sure to leave contact information, either email and/or phone - just in case we need to contact you regarding your order!


How Much is Shipping?

Being that our products are sourced from artisans and designers from around the world, the shipping costs can vary depending on were it's coming from, where it's going and the product itself.

Whether your item(s) is coming directly from one of our warehouses or direct from the designer, we all use the fastest and most cost effective shipping carriers available.

Of course, if you need your item(s) quicker, we can offer expedited shipping for a higher cost. Please contact us to make other shipping arrangements.


Why Haven't I Received My Order Yet?

All orders are processed within 1-3 business days. Once it has been processed, most of the time you can expect your package(s) to arrive within 1-2 business days, up to 1-2 weeks.

Despite our best efforts, some others can experience shipping delays. Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of our control, some items may take even longer, depending on where the product is coming from, going to, time of year, customs, and other unforeseen delays.

You will receive an email with tracking information to keep you up-to-date on the status of your delivery.

If your package has not arrive within 2 weeks, please contact us with your name and order number, so we can investigate the issue and take appropriate action to rectify the situation.

I Have Received Only Part of My Order, Where Are the Rest of My Items?

Because the designers and artisans we've partnered with come from all over the globe, many items will ship from different locations, different countries, using different carriers. This means that some items might arrive earlier - or later - than others. Unfortunately, this is completely our of our control and at the mercy of the shippers, shipping companies and customs.

That said... Have no fear, all your items ARE on their way!

If you'd like to know the status of your other items, please check your email with tracking information, or contact us with your name and order number.


Will I Be Charged With Customs, Taxes or VAT?

Maybe yes; Maybe no. Import taxes, VAT, duties or other related customs fees may be charged once your order arrives to its final destination, which are determined by your local customs office and out of our control.

The prices displayed on our site are tax-free in US Dollars. Most orders do not incur any extra fees upon arrival in its destination country, HOWEVER, if customs decides the order is eligible for fees, then you are responsible to pay the duties and/or taxes/VAT.

We are not responsible for any fees or delays caused by the customs department in your country. For further details of charges, please contact your local customs office.


What if I Need to Cancel or Change My Order?

If you need to change or cancel your order, please contact us immediately!

Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of these often-handmade products, once we have processed your order, we will be unable to make any changes.

Please note that any orders that have already been packed or shipped cannot be cancelled.

Of course we will always honor our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, which gives you 14 days to return the item(s) after you have received your purchase.

Please note, only products returned unused, unworn and with tags still attached (unless received damaged/defective) are eligible for 100% refund).

Holiday Order Delays

If you plan to purchase one of our items as a holiday-season gift, we do not recommend buying the items during the month when the holiday is happening. There is a risk of the item not arriving there on time. We are not held responsible for items that do not arrive before specified dates.

The artisans and designers that we works with are often extremely busy with orders, as are the shipping companies.

For Christmas packages to arrive in time, we recommend placing your order NO LATER than November 1st!!
